The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt yesterday, gave seven days notice to parties to respond to processes in an appeal brought by the Bayelsa State governor-elect, David Lyon, against the judgement of Federal High Court in Yenagoa.
The same Court of Appeal had on Friday, November 15, 2019, granted a stay of execution on the judgement of the Federal High Court, which barred the All Progressives Congress (APC) from participating in the November, 16 governorship election in Bayelsa State.
When the matter resumed yesterday before a three-man panel led by Hon. Justice Lukman Sodipe, an APC governorship aspirant, Heineken Lokpobiri, who was a claimant in the matter also brought a Notice of Appeal against the judgement of the Federal High Court.
The order on the parties followed an application for more time by counsel to Lyon, Michael Numa, to reply the processes on point of law.
Speaking to newsmen outside the court, counsel to APC, Sydney Ibanichuka said with what transpired in court, including the notice of appeal by Lokpobiri, the former Minister has become the third applicant in the matter instead of defendant in the appeal like any other party in the matter.
