Tragic! One Death, Four Injured In Ikoji Building Collapsed

A two-storey building under construction at Glover Court, Ikoyi, Lagos State, collapsed on Friday, killing one person and injuring four labourers working at the site.
It was learnt that emergency officials were still clearing the rubble as of 9pm to know if there were more victims trapped therein.
It was learnt that part of the structure suddenly collapsed around 4pm and trapped the workers.
Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, the state’s ambulance and fire services responded to the distress call and rescued four workers alive.
This came seven days after a two-storey building on Rufai Street, Ojuelegba, collapsed and injured four persons.
The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said emergency response plan was swiftly activated following the distress call.
He said three of the injured persons had been treated and discharged while the fourth injured victim was on admission at a hospital.
He stated that the recovered body had been deposited at the Lagos Island General Hospital mortuary, adding that a joint team of the Lagos State Building Control Agency and Ministry of Physical Planning was on the ground to assess the situation.
The LASEMA boss said, “The operation was prompt, effective and efficient. We were able to rescue four persons alive. However, we are still searching whether there is anybody under the rubble.
“We will do a comprehensive investigation before we could ascertain what caused the collapse. Our duty right now is to rescue the victims.”

N28million Worth Of Marijuana Seized By NDLEA In Ondo The Ondo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Tuesday said it had seized a total of 14.3 tonnes of Indian hemp in the state.
