Nigerians on social media raise awareness as singer Duncan Mighty is abducted by unknown gunmen in Owerri

Well, in a new development, the Imo state police have revealed that the singer was arrested and not abducted. In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Ikeokwu Orlando, Duncan was arrested for over alleged N11 million fraud.

The allegation was levelled against Duncan by an upcoming artiste in the state, M2, who claimed the state government under the tenure of the former governor, Rochas Okorocha, went into a deal with the singer.

The deal entailed that Duncan should sign M2 under his record label and manage, promote and arrange collaborations with other artistes. It appears Duncan renegaded on the agreement and he was picked up by the police.

Excerpts from the police statement reads: “This followed a petition written by an upcoming rap artist, M2, who claimed that the Imo State Government led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha, through the office of the SA on Entertainment, entered into a deal with DUNCAN MIGHTY to manage, promote, arrange, collaborate with other top artists and sign M2 under YOUNG WEALTH record label owned by Duncan Mighty.

"As a result, an agreement was reached with a fee of N11,000,000 paid to him. However, since collecting the payment he refused to fulfil his own part of the deal.

“Sequel to the petition, the artiste was arrested, and he affirmed the having such agreement and collecting the fund, but said he can only refund the money if the contract is terminated, he was then released on bail on self-recognizance.

“Consequently, a letter was received by the representative of the former Governor, terminating the contract to enable him refund the money, and since then he absconded, and all efforts made to reach him proved abortive.

“In view of the above, a warrant of arrest was issued, that led to his arrest at the early hours of this morning.”

A woman was stunned when she discovered that her ex-boyfriend who she was told had died was working in a restaurant she visited. The girlfriend, called Rachel, and boyfriend, who won't be named for legal reasons, were 18 and 21 respectively when they started dating. A few months into their relationship, he returned home from a night out with a broken hand which prevented him from working as a chef in a local pub. He asked Rachel to borrow him $1,000 AUD (£530/$680 USD) to make ends meet. Some time later, the pair split and she was given $300 (£159/$204 USD) back before her now ex-boyfriend went off the radar.
