He was sworn in by the Chief Judge of the state, Paschal Nnadi, on Wednesday evening.
Uzodinma took the oath of office and allegiance before the Chief Judge at 7:28 pm before a mammoth crowd at the Heroes Square Arena, in Owerri, the state capital.
He also signed the required documents empowering him as the seventh Governor of Imo State.
His deputy, Placid Njoku, also took the oath of office and allegiance at 7:18 pm before the Chief Judge and thereafter signed the necessary documents empowering as the second citizen of the state.
The All Progressives Congress’ National Chairman, Adams Oshiohmole; a former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, were in attendance.
INEC makes U-turn, gives Uzodinma Certificate of Return

The Independent National Electoral Commission, on Wednesday, gave Certificate of Return to Senator Hope Uzodinma after the sacking of Governor Emeka Ihedioha by the Supreme Court.
Recall that INEC initially said it would not issue a Certificate of Return to Uzodinma because it had not been served the enrolled order of the Supreme Court judgement which sacked Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State.
Uzodinma was said to have received the CoR without much ceremony at the INEC Headquarters in Abuja.

The Chief Press Secretary of INEC chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, confirmed that Uzodinma has received the document.
He said, “I have just confirmed that the Certificate of Return has been presented to the Governor-Elect of Imo State (Hope Uzodinma) by (INEC) National Commissioner, May Agbamuche-Mbu in the presence of National Commissioners, Abubakar Nahuche and Dr. Mustafa Lecky.”
