Richest King In Nigeria, Second Richest In Africa Celebrates 10th Year Anniversary In A Grandstyle

It was all glitz and glamour on Saturday,November 09 2019 as his Royal majesty Oba Frederick Obateru Akinruntan celebrates 10 years of excellence as the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom occupying the royal stool rightfully left behind by his forefathers in the Ancient kingdom of Ugbo,Ondo state.

The kingdom of Ugbo,an ancient town located in Ilaje local government area of Ondo state,South West Nigeria practically came to a stand still as dignitaries of various institutions came from far and wide to felicitate with the Monarch on the celebration of his first decade on throne.

Arguably the richest King in Nigeria, second in Africa as he is only behind King Mohammed VI of Morocco,Oba Frederick is an ingenious monarch who needs no introduction. Born in 1950 to Sir Frederick of the Adetolugbo Ruling house of Ugbo a riverine area of Ilaje. He is the 4th child of a family of 8 but lost his father in 1964 when he was only 14years old. In 1982,there was a prophesy that Obateru would become the Olugbo of Ugbo kingdom but he never took it seriously.

Shortly after this prophesy,a chieftaincy title peculiar to him as the next Olugbo was conferred on his younger brother, this resulted in a Law suit with the then Olugbo who eventually lost the case paving way for Obateru to be appointed as king in 2009 in accordance with the customs and traditions of Ugbo kingdom.

Long before Oba Frederick's coronation as the man to occupy the throne of his forefathers, he has been renowned to be an astute businessman as he founded Obat Oil in 1981. Today the company has more than 50 gas stations across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria and the company also has a modern storage facility that can store about 65 million litres of petroleum. I guess we now understand how his status as the richest king in Nigeria is rightfully earned.

Asides top notch refreshments that was served to guest who graced the event to felicitate with the Monarch, living legends Commander Ebenezer Obey and King Sunny Ade dished out classic tunes.

To cap off the event,2019 NAS president was conferred with the chieftaincy title Otun Obaselu of Ugbo Kingdom. It was indeed an event filled with so much splendour as it is surely one to remember for indigenes of the Ancient kingdom. Long live the throne,Long live Oba Frederick Enitolorunda Obateru Akinruntan. Long Live Nigeria !!!!
