The former president of Nigeria, His Excellency, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, took to his Twitter handle today to send the former Vice-President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, warm birthday wishes.
The message can be said to be a return of kind gestures. This is because the wishes came just five days after Atiku Abubakar celebrated Goodluck Jonathan on Twitter, on account of the latter’s birthday celebration.
Goodluck, who is 11 years younger than Atiku, reminded the former Vice-President to remember the grace of God in all he does.
He said, “Message to Alh. @atiku at 73. I join your family, friends, and all your associates to congratulate you as you mark your 73rd birthday. Your Excellency that you have come this far in good health and sound mind is a testimony of God's grace and blessing in your life.”
Enemies Turned Friends?
Recall that in 2014, Atiku publically accused Jonathan of running a govern of “clientelism and nepotism” that favors only Jonathan’s family.
This message came while Atiku was still a member of APC. Atiku was one of the major politicians who funded Muhammadu Buhari’s election into office.
However, his loss of favor with APC and Muhammadu Buhari led him back to PDP, where he was from the onset.
This indecisive stance by politicians is a way of calling the average Nigerian a fool. It is not different from the issues in Ekiti State
Despite the drama and the Nigerians that lost their lives and resources for either of them, Fayose and Fayemi were spotted together in Fayose's child’s wedding. It goes ahead to tell Nigerians never to put their lives at risk in a bid to advocate for a politician.
Not long ago, President Muhammadu Buhari and his aides sent condolence messages to Atiku Abubakar on the loss of Atiku's personal aide, Alhaji Umar Pariya.
The kind gestures from Mr. President got Nigerians concerned. The question of whether these rival politicians are friends behind closed doors arose.
What if their public "fight" is just to make a mockery of Nigerians and deceive you into thinking there is actually a faction? What if Nigerians are fools indeed?
What if...? Well, it's just an opinion, sha.
More Wishes
The former President went further to post another tweet, praying for Atiku and his endeavors,
“My family and I pray for renewed strength, God’s wisdom and guidance as you aspire to do more towards addressing societal challenges. Happy birthday, Your Excellency. GEJ.”
The 73-year-old politician also received wishes from PDP chieftains.
The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, said,
“Happy birthday to a great man and leader, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON. We wish you many more years in good health and happiness.”
Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa also dropped a message for Atiku.
“Happy 73rd Birthday, to our former Vice-President and the presidential flag-bearer of our great party, PDP, in the 2019 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.”
