Petrol tanker falls in Onitsha, causes multiple crash

A tanker conveying petroleum products on Sunday fell along Owerri/Onitsha Expressway by Tarzan junction, Onitsha, causing multiple accidents in the area.

DAILY POST gathered that the accident occurred when a truck with Registration number XG 624 DKA conveying diesel lost control and fell on another truck conveying goods heading towards the opposite direction causing its content to spill on the road.

The development, a source said led to other crashes on the road, which caused severe gridlock up on the road.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident, saying that there were no loss of lives in the incident.

He said, “On the 17/11/2019 at about 9:am, there was an accident involving two trucks along Owerri/Onitsha Expressway by Tarzan junction, Onitsha.

“Police patrol teams and other security agencies responded promptly and scene was effectively condoned off in order to avert any calamity.

“Consequently, traffic was diverted to a safer direction. Fire Service department and other emergency response agencies were equally on ground, while the diesel was successfully trans-loaded by NUPENG officials without any casualty recorded.

“Situation was brought under control and obstructions cleared to enable free vehicular movements in the Area.”

N28million Worth Of Marijuana Seized By NDLEA In Ondo The Ondo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Tuesday said it had seized a total of 14.3 tonnes of Indian hemp in the state.
